For sure. Finding some sweet spots. Have you personally seen anything as far as commercial strains being better or worse in general as far as the quality for tinctures. I don't yet have money or a reason to be testing my stuff although some is being tested ATM by other people it's going to take me wicked long to figure, if anything, an Albino Cordycep is possibly stronger than say the Mound 4. I wonder how far across the board it is as is between strains and like even still they are subject to the environment. 

David Medlock It's probably a lot more of like test runs. We know they start on a dish. I've read to test dishes let it grow in the dark a couple days and if upon light introduction it either turns orange or not. I could absolutely have gotten that wrong too, I've not yet seen a dish- not turn yellow. Haven't put it on Agar much. There's a Vietnamese woman on usa cordys and she told me to preserve them "put it on jelly" (a cutting from a fruit) I took it as a slant. Cross breading is not my jam so I know Zero. Maybe a slant-test it on plates to LC/grow out small and if it's good go back to the slant. I would imagine it could survive. I have LC jars that still expanded themselves in the fridge but lasted viable since like the past autumn I think. My master syringes definitely last a few months. Sounds like cap n stem is doing some advanced/new stuff. The OM dude said Oats produced the highest quality cordys. I'm experimenting with like all kinds of shit ATM mostly nutrients and different grains. 

So Gregor, have you guys been dropping agar into grain bags?  I saw a picture of the capnstem cordyceps bag an it looked like little yellow bits. If so..... incredibly interesting 

Go to USA cordyceps or cordyceps cultivation group on Facebook page many will help. Jeff actually made a post about how he feels there's no one keeping information/we're wicked against "gate keeping" or whatever and in the post he left a lot of info. We will help you there For Sure. 

When I get a syringe I put 2 ml into multiple 250 ml jars. Those 250 jars can expand more lager LC jars. My thoughts are that if 10-20ml 2nd expansion into 600ml jars is good, which it is, then probably like 60ml would expand a 1 gal LC jar. 

With LC -from the beginning -time, light and temperature will determine if you get good full uniform grows.

I have just successfully taken a 250ml round of albinos out and they are close to half a year at 40° ish. So like that's a lot as is (250ml) and can go further still.

I've done Jeff's egg substrate next to Ryan Paul Gates substrate recipe and the yield was almost the same but the eggs made really fat cordys. I put eggs in everything except bags because its messy. ☮️

That I have not tried but I have a big ass bag of soy pellets. I recently saw a YouTube dude who actually grew them on a Steak....(wtf?!)

I've got some Sorghum jars going for a side by side VS rice but it's going to be about 20 days b4 I see significant growth. I feel like they just won't be able to absorb properly although they are eating it right now, slower though. As long as the cats bald in the end I'd say it's a good method. My own thoughts are that they can handle and prefer a very wet substrate so I add less hydration to the substrate so that I can add more LC which is nutritious AF. LME/Yeast/dextrose/calcium carbonate/kelp powder/gypsum make absolutely perfect Uniform growth.  LME/Yeast +whole eggs make an equal harvest but tend to be wicked Fatties and IMO better because they get bigger than my fingers. 

I'm going to try to hook up with NHmushrooms this year to sell cordyceps but waiting for another response. Either way this year is the year I'll try markets & coffee shops.🤘

Dude ....the Nebro's spanked me as well. 

I've held off my 2nd try at them until about now for the cold weather. Plan B is now on grain again and I will be trying them in half gallon jars for substrate so I can scrap the top off easier and case them. It's also easier to keep glass colder than a bag. The first time went all the way to a 10lb & 5 lb block. Both got frozen and cased but it was wicked hot outside and I couldn't get my place lower than about 65-70°. 

Got some information about these and from what I was told it sounded like you need to up the PH in the substrate (lime or calcium carbonate) as well as making them freeze upon colonization then Casing layer to initiate fruits could help. They seem to grow during cold months naturally 

They appear to be grown elsewhere in bottles but let's not let the Nebro's continue to win. I've been labeling my Nebro cultures "Fahkn Nebros" because they have been the only one I've not been able to grow successfully or at least fruit. 

Benjamin Harderi just did a round of half gallon jars with Sorghum. I used 125ml of Broth to 1 light cup of uncooked grains. Cooked 1 hr and they came out perfect looking. Almost zero burst grains and they appear to be larger/hydrated. I used 500ml h2o half teaspoons of LME & Yeast with 2 whole eggs for a broth. 

Benjamin Harder I am not sure as to why it happens but I know that from a 10ml master I can make up to 10- 250 ml LC and those are always good to expand ONCE more and after that they get strange looking. I also have found Peptone in general to create what I think is mutants but in wicked small amounts it is possibly helping my tub grows. 

Khan Parks definitely got the length of expansion down AF and I just follow what I've seen him do. Alex Dorr is the man. 

As for different substrates Jeff at  Appalachian gold has been experimenting with the berries. OM uses like 6lb of Oats.  I've heard Ryan Paul Gates uses Sorghum. Not sure. It's definitely possible to use probably whatever within the regular cereal grains just do tests on the grains. I always refer to RR's methods for no soak no simmer similar to his Rye Grass Seed cooks. 

I do think that extra nutrition in the sub gives me waaaaay bigger perfect looking Cordyceps Militaris monsters 

Those were my best bags so far but I found it harder to deal with the bags then anything so far. I think I actually got to talk to the Cordyceps dude you have mentioned previously on here via the Cordy FB chat. He seems smart AF and if bags full of Oats gets you more Sq Ft of surface growth (side chunks are still wicked good -i get a whole harvest underneath my tubs) ..Then Oats is probably the best way.
