So far I can't yet identify the different types of bacteria based on their glow but when I see something glowing green/red/orange usually matches with some kind of contamination. I'm mainly using it to verify my spawn before knock ups. I'm running experiments where I would do tests with "contaminated spawn" and see what grows out of it, if anything at all. I'll keep you posted

I was wondering if anyone here has experimented using UV lights to detect bacteria or contamination in general in their setups, spawn, substrate etc.

I saw that blotch is florescent and UV at 365nm would make it glow greenish yellow, so I bought a small UV flashlight and I've been testing inspecting the farm with it. So far I've seen the most use when checking out spawn bags, as I can see weird colored glowing stuff in bags that to the eye seem normal... Anyway it's still under the experimental phase but wanted to share and hear your thoughts!

I just watched the combo pellet episode and i'm sold on them! it does seem like they would make our life easier for sure. Only question is, do you guys know about any distributors up here in Quebec? I mean they look so helpful i'm considering trying to develop some up here if there's no suppliers around.

Sweaty blocks

Hi guys! So happy to be part of this awesome weird community!

So recently i've been noticing quite a few blocks in our incubation space "sweating" quite a lot (see picture). I think I heard in one of the episodes that overly sweaty bags is probably a sign of contamination but I wanted to hear your thoughts on the issue... What's normal metabolism vs. contamination i guess.

Thanks!!
